If you’re looking for book recommendations, then you’re definitely on the right site! How about I suggest to you the first ever book series that made me love reading? I mean, if you please, of course!
Below, I will be stating 4 reasons as to why Percy Jackson is the perfect book series for you!
1.) Won’t need to think too much about what to read next!
Given that it’s a book series, you still have a long way to go! I mean, well if you finish one book in a day, then at least you won’t have to worry about what to read the next day, and the next, and the next next! Especially if you’re the type of person who loves binge reading! Once you complete this series, there are still supplementary books, and this even has sequel, too! So, expect to be pre-occupied for the days to come, but in a non-stressful way, of course!
2.) Lots of life lessons to reflect on!
a) Disabilities never hinder you to become your best self. Percy is challenged by his ADHD and dyslexia, and he doesn’t really excel academically, either. But, look what he’s branded on, now! A hero, and he excels very much at camp half-blood! You see, it’s really just a matter of audience!
b) If you’re not excelling, then maybe you’re meant for something else! We all have limits and things that we’re good at. If you’re not comfortable with what you’re doing, then maybe because you’re destined for something greater! Just like Percy Jackson, who doesn’t excel much at school but is a natural when it comes to being a hero— which is something not everyone is capable of! So, don’t lose hope, for you still have a long way to go!
c) The concept of hero isn’t always how we picture it. Being a hero doesn’t necessarily mean going around saving the world and its people— it’s mostly about doing the greater good for the greater majority.
d) Being different is good. Sometimes, we feel bad about being different. What we don’t realize is that, that’s actually an advantage. In Percy’s boarding school, he feels out of place, different, weird even. He hates mingling with people and is super introvert. But when he came to camp, he realized that they were all bound to be there, because they are all different. He found a new home and family, because he’s different.
3.) Allows Greek Mythology to never be forgotten and learning actual facts about it!
Short information about our awesome author, Rick Riordan: He actually teaches about Greek Mythology in Texas, so expect that most of the information are accurate! Often times, late heroes’ background stories were mentioned in the books, even Medusa’s story was also stated!
4.) Is good and memorable for kids!
If you’re a parent, then this is one way to introduce your kid to THE magical world, maybe get them off from gadgets, and improve their vocabulary! Rest assured that the books are “kids friendly” and they get to learn a lot from it!
So, if you love books (or looking for books) and you haven’t read the series yet, then you’re truly missing out! Especially if you’re into science fiction and Greek mythology.
