Paimon: A Being Made From Power or A Being Sent From Celestia?

Teyvat is a mysterious place with equally mysterious people, in some cases, those mysteries might even harm you. Despite these mysteries, I think the traveller's companion Paimon, is the most mysterious one.

Paimon is a pixie-like child who can float and go into her space-time pocket. When she floats, there's this star-like dust trail thata follows. Now, you might be thinking, "it's a fantasy world, surely that's normal." Well let me explain it to you.

The traveller first met Paimon when they were fishing on a lake and accidentally fished Paimon out, saving her from drowning. How Paimon got in the middle of the lake is a complete. As a token of gratitude, Paimon claims that she will guide the traveller throughout Teyvat. Despite her childlike appearance, Paimon seems to be quite knowledgable about the things in Teyvat, especially the history of the foods. The people they met seem to be quite surprised about the "floating companion" of the traveller, suggesting that Paimon's kind is not something you see everyday.

Is Paimon a being that was born from the twin travellers' powers when they first landed on Teyvat?

It's an understatement that the twin travelers are strong. So what if when they're powers touched Teyvat for the first time, it was too powerful that it created a life?

Paimon's trail when she floats is similar to the burst of light (assumed to be a remaining wisp of the traveller's sealed powers) of the traveller's idle animation. Not to metion the star decorating her and the stars decorating the traveller's clothes are the same. Granted, that might just mean that they aren not human, since Albedo also has the same star on his neck and he's made of chalk. Without knowing about what their powers created, the twins continued to explore Teyvat, at that same time, Paimon gained consciousness and went out on her own journey, explaining why she has such an extensive knowledge about Teyvat.

Was Paimon sent from Celestia to guide and keep an eye on the traveller on their journey?

With the previous theories aside, it can also be possible that the reigning God of Celestia sent Paimon to keep an eye on the traveller after their long sleep. Even without their previous powers, the traveller is still strong, and as of now is journeying to meet all of The Seven Archons in order to find them. The archons have their own opinions on Celestia, but they have one thing in common: they no longer want any ties with it. Granted, the archons that the traveller have met are the original seven, the remaining of the original seven that is. They've seen what Celestia is capable of, and proved to be just a pawn for a higher power. Take Khaenr'iah for example. A nation with no ruling God, but was the most prosperous and technologically advanced nation. Celestia may have been threatened by this. A nation that didn't need an archon? Preposterous. So she sent the archons to set the nation ablaze. None of the archons the traveler met want to talk about what happened to Khaenr'iah. They don't want to or... something is keeping them. Dainslaif, a person from Khaenr'iah, has told the traveler to not the trust the archons.

Going back onto why I think Paimon was sent from Celestia. There are a lot of things that is hinted that Paimon is "out of this world" so to say.

  • Verr Goldet, the boss of the Wangshu Inn, describes Paimon as a "floating elf companion". Notably, she is one of the few characters who remarks on Paimon's appearance - others tend to refer to her as a "mysterious flying pet" or some other term.

    • The term Verr Goldet uses in Chinese is 精灵 jīnglíng, which broadly refers to fantastical creatures like elves, fairies, and spirits. This term has also been used to describe Barbatos' form before becoming an Archon, Klee and Alice's race, and the Lochfolk.

  • The symbol on Paimon's clothing is an upside-down triquetra, one of the prominent symbols in Teyvat. She also bears the Celestial motif on her sleeves and boots.

    • Paimon's headpiece shares design elements with a fully-upgraded Statue of The Seven. The ring that forms around the statue at Level 10 has the same design as the ring that forms the base of her headpiece, while the vertical protrusion on her headpiece is a simplified version of the diamond-shaped leaf motif that appears upon upgrading the statue to Level 6.

Those theories may be true, but maybe Paimon is just Paimon, the bright, cheery, and best floating companion of Teyvat.
