ADOPT, DON'T SHOP!

"Adopt, Don't Shop" is a campaign slogan used by an increasing number of animal rights activists to encourage people to adopt pets from shelters rather than buying them from pet stores.

Reasons why you should consider pet adoption

1.) You'll save a life.

Every year, the number of animals euthanized rises dramatically because there are just too many pets entering shelters and too few people considering adoption when seeking for a companion. This might be drastically decreased if more people adopted pets rather than purchasing them. Adopting a loving animal into your household saves them from euthanasia and frees up shelter space for another animal in critical need.

2.) It's one way to fight puppy mills.

Puppy mills are industrial-style breeding facilities that prioritize profit over dog welfare. Puppy mill animals are kept in shockingly bad conditions with inadequate medical attention, and as a result, they are frequently sick and behaviorally disturbed. These puppies' mothers are held in cages for years to be bred over and over, with no human interaction and little chance of ever joining a family. When breeding dogs are no longer economical, they are simply discarded—killed, abandoned, or sold at auction.

3.) It could help stop pet overpopulation.

By choosing to adopt, you are caring for a dog that already needs support rather than bringing another puppy into the world rather than going to a shop or breeder for a specific sort of pet.

4.) You'll change a homeless animal's whole world.

Many dogs up for adoption genuinely want to find a loving home and a forever family, and if you take the time to get to know them, they will give you plenty of love! Your new devoted friend will be eternally grateful to you for saving a him/her from a stressful environment.

5.) You support a valuable community and charitable institution.

It's always nice to support and assist a local organization, and these shelters provide a crucial service to the dogs in their care, so by adopting one, you're also helping to provide for the ones who are left behind!

There are plenty of other advantages to adopting a dog or cat rather than buying one from a breeder that aren't covered here, but the best of them all is that you'll be getting a new best friend. Whether you're looking for a high-energy running companion, a lovable lap dog, or a playful feline companion, adoption counselors are eager to assist you in finding the best match for your family and home environment to ensure that you and your new four-legged family member are happy and healthy. Finally, the sense of accomplishment and pride that comes from knowing you helped save a life will last a lifetime. Join us in spreading the word, Adopt, don't Shop!
