5 TIPS FOR ONLINE CLASS STUDENTS

Updated: Oct 22, 2021

COVID-19 pandemic has forced all of us to make significant changes in our everyday lives. Businesses have shifted to remote employment when practicable; K-12 schools have adopted distant learning out of necessity, and many students who were previously enrolled in face-to-face classes now find themselves in unexpected online learning.

While online learning has numerous advantages that make it the preferred option for millions of students, it is not without its problems, particularly for students who are more used to in-person classes. Here are 5 TIPS for effectively adjusting your study habits throughout the shift to entirely online learning.

1. FOR COLLABORATIVE TASKS, COMMUNICATE ON A FREQUENT BASIS

Senior High School strands frequently involve group projects and tasks that must be done in collaboration with others in your class. This is true for online courses just as much as it is for in-person ones. However, whereas in-person courses encourage group work by bringing groups together face-to-face, online learners must take extra precautions to ensure that they are

communicating successfully.

Groups must emphasize communication if they want to prevent misunderstanding, whether it be via Gmeet, email, phone call, messenger, shared documents, or another form of communication entirely. Find a system that works for everyone in the group, and then follow up on a regular basis.

2. DIVIDE UP GROUP TASKS AS SOON AS POSSIBLE

Along those lines, it's also critical for organizations to split up different duties appropriately so that everyone is responsible for their fair part and everyone understands precisely what they're responsible for doing.

When working on group tasks, make sure to plan ahead of time so that you can split the work and coordinate your efforts. That way, if something isn't due for a few weeks, everyone may utilize their free time to work on their responsibilities when

they can.

3. KEEP IN TOUCH WITH YOUR TEACHER ON A REGULAR BASIS

It is essential that you interact with your adviser or other teachers in the same way that you communicate with your groupmates and peers. Make an attempt to contact your teachers, whether you have questions about an assignment or simply want to let them know where you're having trouble.

However, don't believe that you can only communicate when things are going wrong. Allowing your teacher to know when something has gone well, whether it's a lesson that you found particularly useful or admiration for a groupmate can go a long way toward assisting you in developing a connection with your teacher.

4. PARTICIPATE IN CLASS AS MUCH AS YOU CAN

Participation is essential for success whether you are attending classes online or in person. Active involvement not only shows your teacher that you're interested, but it also demonstrates that you're learning and ready to put in the effort necessary to succeed. While some see education as a passive process, participation transforms it into an active activity.

5. SET TIME TO STUDY

Many students at our school are juggling their academics with other obligations, such as home duties and part-time jobs. All compete for your time and attention, therefore you must create a plan that permits you to fulfill all of those challenges.
