Real Steel

Real Steel is a 2011 American science fiction sports drama series starring Hugh Jackman and Dakota Goyo, co-produced and directed by DreamWorks Pictures Shawn Levy. The film is based on the short story "Steel" written by Richard Matheson. This short story was originally published in the May 1956 issue of Fantasy & Science Fiction, and was later adopted in the 1963 episode of the Twilight Zone. Real Steel had been in development for several years before production began on June 24, 2010. This movie was mainly shot in Michigan, USA.

Charlie Kenton, a former boxer, owns a robot named Ambush. He lost it in a fight against a bull belonging to promoter and carnival owner Ricky. Having bet with Ricky that Ambush would win, Charlie absconds before Ricky can collect the prizemoney. After the fight, Charlie discovered that his ex-girlfriend past away and he should attend a hearing deciding the future of their son. Max, his son, had no contact since Max was born. Max`s maternal aunt, Debra and Marvin, her wealthy husband, wanted full custody, which Charlie asked for $100,000, half in advance, and Marvin negotiated that Charlie retained Max for three months, Marvin and Debra went on a vacation. Settling into a gym owned by Bailey Tallet, the daughter of Charlie`s former boxing coach, Charlie acquires the famous Noisy Boy robot, but is easily destroyed in an underground match against Midas another robot boxer.

Max went to a trip with Charlie into a junkshop where they retrieve parts to build a new robot, Max found a robot with a badge “Astro Boy” and named it Atom. Atom is a sparring robot that can withstand severe damage and reflect the movements of enemies and handlers it has a cool feature called "Shadow function". Max modifies the internals of Astro Boy with controls that correspond to Noisy Boy's vocals and convinces Charlie to help remember Astro Boy's campaign. This led to a series of victories that culminate in the fact that Charlie will be offered a fight in World Robot Boxing. Atom competes with national champion Twin Cities. The battle begins with Atom's attack, but Twin Cities easily continues to attack. When the Twin Cities make the right hit, Charlie notices Dani, so Charlie controls Astro Boy in a knockout victory. Dedicated to his success, Max challenges undefeated world champion Zeus with an audience on his side. After the battle, Ricky and his two minions attacked Charlie for dropping out early, robbed Charlie and Max of their prize money, and brought Max back to Debra to the defeated and disappointed Charlie. This frustrated Max, and when Charlie tried to convince him that it's better for Max to live without him, Max always wants Charlie to fight for him and be there as his father. After Max leaves, Charlie returned to the turret gym.

While talking to Bailey about the event, the two kiss each other and show their charm to each other. Persuaded by Bailey, Charlie arranges Zeus's challenge for Max and persuades Debra to see Max take part in the battle. Zeus dominates early and knocks down Astro Boy on the first blow. Atom keeps getting up even if Zeus punishes him. Atom survives the first round and amazes the crowd. Ricky, betting $ 100,000 with Charlie's friend Finn, tried to escape, saying Atom couldn't survive in the first round, but was cornered by a fighting bookmaker. During that time, Atom hits the ring several times, but keeps knocking down repeatedly. Towards the end of Round 4, Atom's voice response control breaks and Charlie needs to use the shadow feature to force Atom to imitate his boxing skills. Zeus programmers can't make up for this, so designer Tak Mashido has personal control like Charlie. Zeus lands on the floor once and whips decently with little avoidance of knockout losses, but Atom couldn't beat it within five rounds, so the match was based on the number of hits. I'll win. Zeus remains undefeated, but Mashid's group is humiliated for being nearly defeated, and Zeus is so damaged that he cannot be repaired. When Masid and his team are embarrassed despite winning, Atom is proudly called the Folk Champion, and Max and Charlie celebrate regardless of the outcome of the game.

Max fought for what he loves and what is his passion despite of his weakness and limitations. He didn’t just give up the important people and things in his life. Some people tried to buy his robot with good price, yet he rejected the offer and wasn’t tempted by the money that he can get. He was also able to influence his father to let his robot fight, to fight for him and to box again.

In conclusion, leaders wouldn’t depend on your age, how well you speak, how well you write, how much you own and how much you know. It is about you being able to influence, inspire, and motivate, allowing people to commit their skills and talents in achieving the group’s goals. And most of all, it is about you bringing out the best in them and making them new leaders, for true leaders are not born but they are made.
